Let’s chat about Day 2. This was one of my Ryan days, so we spent most of it faffing about exploring before he had to check in for the big event.
We woke up at a reasonable hour, given the disastrous travel day, but were still off our game a bit. Naturally, armed with our directions and internet (bless), we ended up at… the train station we struggled to navigate the day before. It was quite fun though, as it was a hub for food, fashion, small shops, etc, and we got a lot of variety in a singular trip.

We stopped in a cute little cafe to grab coffee and a smoothie (both incredible, for what it’s worth) and then it was off to find ramen… or some sort of soup. After a bit of translation-related confusion and some directional mishaps on my end, we ended up in line for a soup place (no ramen in sight).

If I’m being honest, I don’t know what we had, but I ordered some mushroom-based soup that didn’t have noodles, and Ryan got some spicy thing that DID have noodles but also came with rice, which didn’t seem fair. Also this was the first time I had the dessert mochi with brown sugar and it was quite good…if not a bit grainy.

We walked around a bit more at Porto until we came across the mecca for all nerds of Yokohama: The Sky Building! This singular location housed not only the Pokémon Center but also a Sanrio arm, a Gachapon store (think gumball machines with toys inside) and more. After buying out all of the Snorlax items and looking for Wooper (Ryan’s fave) we headed back to chill for a bit and wait until REGISTRATION TIME.

I sent Ryan off to go register while I grabbed a quick snack at 7-11, pictured below. The ice cream was for me naturally, and the egg salad sando was… good… for egg salad but the real star was the wasabi/wagu chips which were OUTSTANDING. Then it was off to Pacifico to meet up with Ryan and check out the event space.

Even though I don’t play at these, I do like to see what’s up, compare it to book con, and, naturally, look at the merch. I also may have been a little lost, but we met up, caught the keynote, got our merch and took some pics before we headed to dinner.

Is most of this post about food? It certainly seems that way but hey, it is what it is. Anyway this was the only restaurant we attended twice. Steps away from our hotel in the ‘OK’ building was a conveyor belt sushi restaurant (with dessert, ramen, and more), so naturally, we had to check it out.
This was a long day, sure, but I think both of us were just so happy to not be on a plane that we barely noticed. We did sleep well after though, obviously.

ZZZZZzzzzz,
Ally
